Here in Las Vegas, a former housemate purchased a 2 story, 1400 sq. foot home with three bedrooms and backyard pool in Summerlin for the price of $139,000 in 1999. In 2005, he sold it for $320,000, after paying $5-10 grand just to repaint and recarpet.

That is called staging. My house is going up for sale next month. My realtore says to ask $99,000 and take $94,000. I have to go back and finish the trim work and paint too. That will be over double from what I bought it for but then again a ton of $$$ went into it too.
